 Strikeforce MMA Destruction
Two fighters, Luke Stewart and Kurt Osiander, from the Fight and Fitness/Ralph Gracie coalition fought at Strikeforce 'Destruction' on November 21st, 2008. Luke Stewart fought UFC veteran Joe Riggs, and Kurt Osiander fought Josh Neal from Voodoo in Bakersfield.
Luke was first up. Riggs (29-10) appeared to be the more inexperienced of the two, as he could not control the distance against the sharp San Franciscan. After landing a leg kick, Stewart scored with a quick takedown. Despite returning to his feet, Riggs was forced to fend off Stewart from all angles.
Stewart (6-2) continued to close the distance as the second stanza opened, but a takedown forced him to match his guard with Riggs’ heavy ground-and-pound. Experience soon kicked in, as Riggs founds his rhythm and began to unload. Stewart ultimately scrambled to his feet, where a big hook sent the heavily tattooed welterweight to the ground. The end came 2:05 into the second round.
Kurt's fight ended quickly so I'll here's a detailed play-by-play.
Osiander throws leg kick, shoots, stuffed, under fire by Neal. The two exchange all around the cage before clinching, where Osiander gets the leg trip takedown. Neal fights his way up, He battles off the fence and throws a superman punch. Osiander connects standing and follows him to the ground, finishing off the stunned fighter. It was a left-right combo that finished the fight at 2:16 of the first by way of McCarthy's stoppage
We're very proud of both of these fighters. They represented Fight and Fitness and Ralph Gracie like the warriors that they are. |
